The Plaza Group (TPG) is a multi-million dollar minority-owned international chemical marketing firm based in Houston, Texas. Started in 1994, we initially marketed only those chemical products produced at Texaco Refining and Marketing refineries located in El Dorado, Kansas, Delaware City, Delaware and Anacortes, Washington (Puget Sound) on an agency basis.

This arrangement resulted from the sale of most of the Texaco Chemical Company assets to Huntsman Corporation; the petrochemical units of the El Dorado, Puget Sound and Delaware City facilities were integral parts of these refineries and were therefore excluded from that sale. These facilities have subsequently become Shell Oil in Puget Sound and Frontier Oil in El Dorado, while the petrochemical facilities in Delaware were shut down in 2001.

Beginning in late 1997, The Plaza Group became the exclusive distributor of the chemical products produced at these facilities in a long-term contract. Today, The Plaza Group also has multi-year sales agreements with Frontier Oil, Dow, Mitsui, CEPSA, Total Petrochemicals, Husky Energy, Polimeri Europa, Flint Hills, Blue Island Phenol LLC, Sumitomo, Alon Refining, Valero and Shell and many other petrochemical producers that do not maintain a sales and marketing organization or otherwise have begun to outsource this function.

This phenomenal period of growth lead to average increases in sales revenue of over 200% per year in the late 90's. Since that time, The Plaza Group has continued at a steady -- but more moderate -- growth rate, constantly striving to maintain our commitment to personal service with our growing presence in the global marketplace which includes the recent addition of suppliers in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
